Nestled on the incredible and unique tidal canal system, Brisan Bed and Breakfast on the Canals is the ideal accommodation venue to experience the wonders of this beautiful village, with its white walls and black thatch roofing. While the uniformity of the style lends itself to the graciousness of the area, every house is individual and commands attention.

Brisan Bed and Breakfast on the Canals offers guests superb accommodation to suit everyone. All the beds are extra length and of top quality to ensure a good nights rest. Only 100% cotton percale linen is used and all rooms have a tea/coffee tray, dressing table, hairdryer, guest amenities and television.

Brisan Bed and Breakfast - Accommodation

Brisan Bed and Breakfast on the Canals offers guests superb accommodation to suit everyone. All our beds are extra length and of top quality to ensure a peaceful nights rest. Only 100% cotton percale linen is used and all rooms have a tea/coffee tray, dressing table, hairdryer, guest amenities and television.

Whale Room
Our luxury room upstairs is ideal for those who enjoy accommodation with extra space, or for families. It is a large room with a king/twin bed, lounge area with fold out double sleeper couch, luxury en-suite bathroom with bath, separate shower, bidet. Whale Bedroom & Balcony This room leads onto a huge balcony with built in barbecue facility, patio furniture and sun loungers, overlooking the St Francis Bay canals and Kouga mountains. In this accommodation you can enjoy the privacy and tranquillity of the area while relaxing on the deck with a long, cold drink, cup of tea or coffee, or your own ‘braai’. You have direct access to our gardens and private beach on the St Francis Bay canals. The tidal canals ensure 100% fresh seawater daily.

Dolphin Room
One of three very comfortable canal facing rooms each with it’s own entrance opening onto the garden, king/twin beds, patio furniture and Weber barbecue for guests convenience. This room is spacious and can accommodate an airbed mattress on the floor for guests with children Beautiful luxury en-suite bathroom with bath and separate shower, plus bidet.

Penguin and Otter rooms
These two canal facing rooms are adjacent to each other. Like Dolphin they each have their own entrance, patio furniture and Weber BBQ facility. The king/twin beds allow for flexibility with travelling parties or individuals.

This upstairs Room is a large, sunny room with a small private balcony overlooking the side gardens.

This accommodation is also suitable for a family as there is space for a stretcher or airbed mattress.

The adjacent room upstairs has a queen bed en-suite bathroom with a shower over the bath.
This room looks over the field towards the village of St Francis Bay.

The house boasts an enclosed patio with roll down see-through awnings and stainless steel built in barbecue available for your use during inclement weather .Here guests can enjoy their gourmet breakfasts in all weathers while basking in the beauty and tranquillity of the surroundings overlooking the canals.

Brisan on the Canals is the perfect Bed and Breakfast for guests to experience St Francis Bay. Hosts, Kevin and Ursula, are well acquainted with the area and can advise visitors regarding sights, activities and restaurants available. The Village offers excellent cuisine including fresh fish, local calamari, superb steaks, Greek food, curries and fine dining. The choices are excellent.

Canal and River Cruises are the highlight for most visitors to St Francis Bay and can be booked with Brisan on the Canals. Owners Brian and Sandy and Kevin all have ‘Skippers Tickets’ and have been cruising the canals and river for many years. Our pontoon boat, “The Swan of Brisan”, is equipped with a gas griller and full gas stove in order to prepare a delicious meal or light refreshments while cruising. As one American journalist wrote and said “Your Bed and Breakfast is lovely, and the experience of having breakfast out on the water in the morning was definitely the highlight of our trip.” The sights and sounds which abound will prove to be just that.

Whether you take a shorter canal cruise or one encompassing the canals and the Kromme River, it will be an unforgettable experience.

For water sport enthusiasts, St Francis Bay has much to offer – for the surfers, Bruce’s Beauties (the perfect wave), kite-surfing for the energetic, wave boarding, water-skiing, swimming and walking on our safe and pristine beaches, and much more.

The latest innovation is the Chokka Trail for Slackpackers. This is a 4-day, 3-night stop hike through Oyster Bay, The Sand River, Mosterts Hoek, the Wild Side and includes accommodation and meals in upmarket establishments with dinner, bed and breakfast.This includes a night at Brisan on the Canals.

We also have our own special Whale-Watching venues in St Francis Bay, as these enormous mammals come close in to the shore. We have access to a cottage at “Rebels Rus” Nature Reserve where the whales can be seen in close proximity to the shore. A visit to our delightful harbour, Port St Francis, is a must. Here one can view the excitement of our local fishing boats as they load up to go to sea or unload their catch of the day.

St Francis Bay is the unexplored jewel of the Garden Route and is situated only 100kms from Port Elizabeth en route to Cape Town. It can also be a wonderful stop-over for guests going on to Addo Elephant Park or prior to flying out of Port Elizabeth on the final leg of their journey to South Africa.
